Safety Advice for MoD Personnel

The minister stated that the ministry is “looking into” Chinese vehicles within its fleets, but noted that security is a concern in every contemporary vehicles.
Our department has a collection of tens of thousands of vehicles in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles represent a very small number.
But whether you’re driving a vehicle from China or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our staff is to avoid connecting Ministry of Defence devices into their car, not to have discussions at a secret level in any vehicle, due to the growing threats of eavesdropping that exist in all vehicle, to restrict those secret conversations in secure locations. That’s a prudent and reasonable thing for everyone worried about security.
After it was put to him that it would be wise for the MoD to stop using all cars from China, the minister replied: ‘That’s precisely what we are looking into at the moment.”
