Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Questers and Planners groups.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
