Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
An important representative said the incident left him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in five years prior.
